The Dedham-Westwood Water District’s contractor, CJP and Sons, will replace the existing water main on Hillcrest Place and Beverly Lane in Westwood.
Work includes installing a new 6″ water main, fire hydrants, valves, and the District-owned portion of each property’s water service line.
The current water main on Hillcrest Place and Beverly Lane is cast-iron pipe from the 1950s. Cast-iron pipe from this timeframe is known for frequent failure. Also, the existing water main is significantly undersized, which is why the neighborhood has regularly experienced low water pressure.
Once the project is complete, residents will have improved water pressure and adequate fire flow protection.
While construction is underway, access to portions of Windsor Road, Beverly Lane, Sterling Road, and Hillcrest Place will be limited at times. However, residents, emergency vehicles, and school buses will always be allowed to pass through. The road will be open to normal traffic conditions once construction has finished for the day.
At times, residents will temporarily have their water service disrupted. The District will notify affected residents 24 hours before any planned water interruptions.
The project, including restoration work (paving, loam, and seed) is now complete.
Work will be conducted Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.
