Water Main Replacement Project

Project Overview

In November 2024, the Dedham-Westwood Water District’s contractor, R.M. Pacella, Inc., started replacing the existing water main on a portion of East Street in Dedham.

The limits of work for the first phase include East Street from Greenwood Avenue to Norwich Street. The scope of work consisted of installing:

  • 1,800 linear-feet of 12-inch ductile-iron water main on a portion of East Street (between Greenwood Avenue and Norwich Street)
  • District-owned portion of each property’s water service line (properties located within the above project limits)
  • Fire hydrants, valves, and associated appurtenancesĀ

The second phase of the project, which started in April 2025, included East Street from Norwich Street to Vincent Road. Work consisted of installing:

  • A temporary above-ground water main (customers will be connected to this water main for the duration of the project)
  • 2,000 linear-feet of 12-inch ductile-iron water main on a portion of East Street (between Norwich Street and Vincent Road)
  • District-owned portion of each property’s water service line (properties located within the above project limits)
  • Fire hydrants, valves, and associated appurtenancesĀ

Work for both phases of the project was fully completed in December 2025.
